Your Song

Your task is to choose your song. This song MUST reflect YOU or a significant moment in your life. As this is a school setting, lyrics must be appropriate. 

You will prepare a written and visual presentation based on your chosen song to explain all about it. You will use this to support you to speak to an audience about your song.

To Start - Organise a copy of the words of your song to share with your audience. Before listening, explain:'

• The name of the song.
• The name of the performer.
• What was the album/vehicle of its release.
• How does the song relate to other songs on the album etc., (what was occurring in the writers/singers life)?
• Why it is important to you?
• Are your circumstances similar to that of the writer/singer?
• How did you come across this song and how did it link into your life.
# Remember to collect your information and image source references. You are will need to present a bibliography with this assignment.

To Finalise - Play the song aloud for your audience and explain: 

• What particular lines in the song resonate with you?
• What is your overall impression of the song?
• Answer questions about the song/event

Preparing to write and create my presentation

Learning Intention: I will go through the processes needed to prepare myself to be able write my music project up in my own words.

# The singer was brought up without a healthy relationship with his Dad
# Corey felt he had let his dad down and he also began questionoing God
# Corey's eldest son was born and named Gabriel
# As a father himself, Corey came back to realising the power of love
# My circumstances are the opposite to Corey as I have a good relationship with my father
# It is a good song to listen when you are down or going through a hard time, a good song to listen to when you feel like everything has changed direction or have a feeling inside that you feel like nothing

# It was originally released in Mississipi on radio
# The song has a good beat, this is why I chose it

# It is important because it is about how people who keep going forwards overcome challenges
# When I do something I felt like I was coming out second best and eventually could see I could also come out on top - this is why I connected to the meaning of the song

#Name of song was about how it felt to fail and having to find the determination to keep trying when things are hard. This song has a positive message.

# The album Pray for the Wicked was released on
# This song is important to me because it makes me feel good about myself and makes me feel like I can work to do well in life.
# My experience to Urie is similar because I have found sometimes I do not set my expectaions high enough in life.

# The guitarist made the riff for Mr. Brightside and Brandon Flowers was inspired to write the song
# Flowers wrote the song about his ex-girlfriend who cheated on him
# The first time I heard this song was at the 2017 Grand Final when Richmond won, that is why it is important to me.

2019 - 'Amazing Grace' by JS

# The song is sung by Leann Rimes
# It is important because it remminds me of Great Grandpa who died in 2009 and it was played at  his funeral, which is where I first heard it
# Every time I listen to it I am reminded of my Great Grandfather who died when I was 6. This was the first death experience in my life and I hated the fact that I would never get to see him again
# He wa always interested in us, always had a smile
# The lyrics of this song related to my grandfather
# During WW2 my Great Grandpa and the war made him question whether there was a God but after the war ended he tried to forget what happened and struggled with coping
# The song 'Amazing Grace' helped him to cope and find faith again
# Forgiveness and redemption are important ideas that Grandpa valued
# The song helps people to seek forgiveness

# It is important to me because I have had trouble finding friend who are honest at times at school
# I came across this song because I followed her band 'Fifth Harmony'
# I related to the song because it was hard for me to let people in after my bad experiences, but now I have two amazing friends

# Whitney Houston sang this song.
# Whitney died in February 11, 2012. She was aged 48.
# This is my favourite song at the moment.
# The first time I heard this song was on the radio in the car, it was fun to listen to it with my family and my Mum was singing along to it. This is a good memory for me.
# It is a good song as it makes me feel  good, the lyrics and the melody fit well.
# The song is all about dance and Whitney improving her ability in dancing, inspiring others at the same time.
# You can relax when you listen to this song in your car or room.
